How to Keep Kids Fit Without Organized Sports
Joining an organized team sport is a great way for kids to stay fit. But there are kids who are not interested in organized sports. What can they do to stay fit?
Things You’ll Need:
- Kids
- Park
- Outside toys
- Music
- Sense of fun!
Step 1
Turn on the music and get funky. Choose music that kids love and get them to move and groove to the music. They might like the latest pop songs, or soundtracks to their favorite cartoons or movies.
Step 2
Take your kids to the local park or nature area and go hiking. Not only will they stay fit, they can learn a lot about nature, plants, and animals. For more exercise, try some easy rock-climbing or wear a backpack stocked with water, first aid kit, and healthy snacks.
Step 3
Encourage your child to take up a solitary sport or active game such as golf or bowling. These activities are not only a lot of fun, they can be good exercise as well. Maintaining an active life is the key to keeping fit without organized sports.
Step 4
Join a gym that is kid-friendly. Older kids can go to the gym or fitness center with you and take special classes designed just for kids and teens.
Step 5
Play with your kids and encourage them to play in active ways. Turn off the TV and the video games and go outside for a game of catch, hula hooping or jumping rope.
